On November 1, 2023 the State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU) and the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency of the Kingdom of Thailand (GISTDA) signed the Memorandum of Understanding regarding cooperation in the field of peaceful use of space.
The document officially established relations between the two agencies, as well as defined their framework and core cooperation areas, aiming at further development and strengthening of the mutually
beneficial cooperation in the space sphere.
The signing of the memorandum was the result of targeted efforts undertaken since 2021, aimed at the initiation and development of sustainable mutually beneficial cooperation between the space agencies of Ukraine and the Kingdom of Thailand.
At the same time, Ukraine is proud of its significant contribution to the development of the space industry in Thailand, in particular, the launch into orbit of the first Thai satellite "THEOS", which was carried out in 2008 by the Ukrainian space rocket "DNIPRO". We also welcome the successful launch in October 2023 of the second Thai satellite "THEOS-2", which was delivered to the space orbit by the "VEGA" rocket, the upper stage engine of which had been designed and manufactured by the Ukrainian companies under the management of the State Space Agency of Ukraine.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Pakorn Apaphant, Executive Director of GISTDA and Mr. Oleksandr Ben, Acting Head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine, in presence of Mr. Pavlo Orel, Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine, a.i. in the Kingdom of Thailand.
