On 21 August 2026, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Thailand lowered the State Flag of Ukraine to half-mast in connection with the massive Russian missile and drone attack on the territory of Ukraine on the night of 20 August, which targeted Kyiv in particular.
As a result of the Russian strike on Kyiv, at least 17 people were killed and around 50 others injured. During the attack, the Russian Federation damaged more than 200 facilities, including 86 residential buildings, a children's hospital, social infrastructure, and commercial facilities.
Russia has no intention of stopping its criminal aggression and once again demonstrates complete disregard for human life, continuing to use terror against Ukrainians as an instrument of warfare. We strongly condemn these deliberate terrorist acts against the civilian population of Ukraine and call on the international community to further strengthen sanctions pressure on the aggressor state.
The Embassy of Ukraine expresses its condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to all those injured in the Russian attack.
