In September 2024 the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has launched a project that allows global entrepreneurs to legally set up and run their businesses online through electronic residency in Ukraine.
uResidency is aimed at small business owners from Asia and Europe. The focus is on IT and creative economy professionals.
At the launch stage, citizens of India, Pakistan, Thailand, and Slovenia can become e-residents. The list of countries will be expanded over time.
Foreigners do not need to travel to Ukraine to obtain e-residency status. It is enough to pass a one-time offline identification at the Ukrainian consular office in the country of residence. Subsequently, this procedure will also be carried out online.
How will the program work?
Foreigners who have become e-residents will be able to register as an entrepreneur and conduct business remotely in the jurisdiction of Ukraine from anywhere in the world. Everything is completely online - from submitting an application to opening a bank account and paying taxes.
The program offers foreign entrepreneurs attractive business conditions:
official jurisdiction in a European country, which increases the credit of trust among clients and customers of an e-resident
attractive tax rates - 5% of the profit amount not exceeding EUR 180 thousand
the ability to remotely register a sole proprietorship from anywhere in the world through a mobile application or web portal
the ability to manage funds through mobile banking
no accounting and reports. An e-resident does not need to fret over filling out a bunch of documents about his or her business. Instead, the bank will do it as their tax agent
free service. The only investment is the payment of taxes and a symbolic payment for opening and maintaining accounts.
The process of obtaining e-residency status is as simple as possible. You only need to take a few steps.
Application. The first step is to fill out an application. This can be done through the mobile application or on the website of the e-residency of Ukraine. To register, the applicant needs only one document - a foreign passport. The applicant will receive a login and password to track the application.
Verification. At this stage, the applicant waits for the competent authorities of Ukraine and the uResidency team to check his/her application and profile for any grounds for refusal. The verification usually takes place quickly, but in some cases it can take up to 30 days.
Obtaining e-Residency status. The next step is to make an appointment and visit a consular office to obtain an electronic signature and e-residency status.
Registration of an entrepreneur. An e-resident can register as an e-resident entrepreneur and open a bank account using a qualified electronic signature.
Opening a bank account. E-resident entrepreneurs can open a bank account and conduct business in the jurisdiction of Ukraine. Yes, that's it! After all, the bank takes care of paying taxes and reporting.
