Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba met with Secretary-General of ASEAN Dato Lim Jock Hoi in Phnom Penh.

"Ukraine and ASEAN are connected by the traditional ties of friendship and mutual respect. The accession of our state to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia will create new political, economic and cultural opportunities for our states, businesses and citizens,"  - noted the minister.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the intensification of interaction with the ASEAN region, which is a powerful political and economic association of ten countries in Southeast Asia, is a part of the Asian strategy developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dmytro Kuleba and Dato Lim Jock Hoi agreed on specific steps to deepen the cooperation between Ukraine and ASEAN in the fields of trade, digital transformation, agriculture, and strengthening of the political dialogue and mutual support.

In particular, the parties will hold a number of political contacts and bilateral events in order to bring political and economic interaction to a qualitatively new level: a presentation of investment opportunities of Ukraine and ASEAN, a business forum for establishing the direct business contacts, an exchange of experience in the field of using the Ukrainian digital platform NAZOVNI and the Asian system Access.

Dmytro Kuleba separately called on ASEAN to demand from Russia the continuation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which plays a key role in the ensuring of the global food security.
