On March 13, 2019 Ambassador Andrii Beshta gave a talk on “Ukraine: Transforming Challenges Into Opportunities. Bilateral Relations Between Ukraine and Thailand” at the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.
The presentation was made before a group of 30 selected Thai university students from the southern provinces of Thailand.
Ambassador briefed students about the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine that started 5 years ago with temporary occupation of Crimea as well as about the progress of comprehensive reforms in Ukraine and its integration to EU and NATO.
H.E. Mr. Andrii Beshta informed the audience about key milestones of 27 years of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Thailand as well as priority steps in terms of strengthening the political dialogue, mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and investment, people-to-people contacts.
Ambassador in particular recalled that back in 1906 Ukrainian lady Kateryna Desnytska married His Royal Highness Prince Chakrabongse Bhuvanath, son of the King Chulalongkorn, thus becoming the first ever foreigner to marry the son of the king of Thailand.
