On July 25, 2017 Ambassador of Ukraine Andrii Beshta met with Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
During the meeting Ambassador informed the Executive Secretary about the contribution of Ukraine as UN founding member into activities of the Organization in the security, social-economic and human rights areas, including as the non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2016-2017. Ambassador also informed about the latest developments as the result of Russian aggression against Ukraine and expressed hope on the more active UN role in this context in accordance with the UN Charter. Dr. Shamshad Akhtar in turn informed about the activities and priorities of UNESCAP, including in the energy, transport, social and economic areas.
Both sides exchanged views on the possibility of cooperation and implementation of joint projects in the future
