On February 28, 2024, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Thailand together with the Delegation of the European Union to Thailand and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium held an event to honor the memory of those who died or have suffered from this terrible war.
The event was attended by the representatives of the Thai government, business, and expert circles, diplomatic corps accredited in Thailand, international organizations, as well as by members of the Ukrainian community.
The participants of the event had the opportunity to watch the documentary film "Culture vs War. Akhtem Seitablaiev", created by the Association "Promoting the development of cinema in Ukraine - watch Ukrainian!" and followed by the protagonist’s online address to the audience.
Another key part of the event was a panel discussion on the topic “Ukrainian Resilience: A Commemoration of Two Years of Struggle and Strength”. In the expert talk on the ways how to increase Ukraine's support and to achieve sustainable peace took part H.E. Mr. David Daly, Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand, Mr. Pavlo Orel, Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Thailand, Professor Dr. Thitinan Pongsudhirak, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Security and International Studies, Professor Dr. Kantathi Supamongkhon, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and Mr. Sunai Phasuk, Senior Researcher, Asia Division, Human Rights Watch. The discussion was moderated by Mrs. Karuna Buakamsri, a well-known Thai foreign news reporter.
During the event was also presented a photo exhibition on the consequences of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The event became not only a symbol of support and solidarity with Ukraine, but also an important platform for discussing the possible scenarios of the course of the war, its international environment, and the ways of achieving peace.
