Economic and trade relationship between Ukraine and Laos
According to the data of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, the turnover between Ukraine and Lao PDR for 2017, excluding the temporarily occupied territory of the Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, amounted to $ 1,035 mln.
On the 4th of May 2017 H.E. Mr. Andrii Beshta, the new Ambassador of Ukraine to Lao People's Democratic Republic, presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Mr. Bounnhang Vorachith, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane.
During the meeting both sides emphasized the existing friendly relations between Ukraine and Lao PDR and expressed readiness for their further strengthening in all areas, including political dialogue, trade and people-to-people contacts for the benefit of both countries and peoples. They underlined that this year two countries will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
During his visit to Laos H.E. Mr. Andrii BESHTA, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, met with H.E. Mrs. Khemmani PHOLSENA, Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Lao PDR. Both sides welcomed the steady growth of the volume of bilateral trade during the last years and agreed that there exists considerable potential for further strengthening of trade and economic cooperation.
Sides underlined the importance of creating bilateral mechanisms and legal framework for facilitating business-to-business contacts and exchanges of business delegations that would allow to explore areas of mutually-beneficial cooperation.
